what exactly is a nocd crack?

thanks for the reply. OK so i have nfsu-deviance, included is the nocd which happens to be speed.exe. i copy it over and play game with disk 2 inserted. is that correct, or can it be done without cd inserted?by the way, the game plays fine. i just thought the nocd means no disk is neccessary.
