avg. time with dvd burner?

hey I was wondering how long over all (ripping, compressing and burning) would it take (on avg) to make a copy of a dvd (7gig+) using a dvd burner instead of a cd burner. Detail--->>> I currenty have a cd burner there for I have to make (S)VCD's and that methods takes forever.... I guess my question is how much time would I eliminate by buying a (avg performance) dvd burner?? and is there a difference in compression methods??

To all post readers: How long does it take you?

Well dude, it really depends on your dvd reader and burner. If you get yourself one of those 16x dvd readers then you can rip a dvd movie hella quick (I think I need one of those). Otherwise many can only rip a dvd movie at 2x.

Then it depends on what you do to compress your movie. This I guess is where it matters what processesor you have. On average it takes me about 50min to compress.

Finally burning, this is an easy thing to determin. If you burn at 2x then 30min. If you burn at 4x then 15min.
