what should the read speed set on, max or 1x
And when the cache flickers on 100 percent then 98 back and forth, should i be woried about something.

read should be whatever you want i like 1x so as to avoid skipping games when they run, it only takes about 1 hour to do it on 1x, with respect to the cache you shouldn't be running anything in the background unless you have tons of ram

I wouldn't worry about the cache on reading m8. It will flicker about a bit. Just make sure it doesn't drop too low when writing a CD. Anything under 75% on a write is starting to get a bit worrying!
