A drive which can Read/Write RAW-DAO-96 (Read/Write the Data Subchannel) and which can correct EFM Encoding. Typically, these types of drives come from vendors such as Plextor and Lite-On.
Older drives cannot obtain or place Subchannel data to/from the disc and this is why they have trouble backing up discs using a 1:1 copying piece of software. Hope this helps... LUFCfan
