my m8 got a pioneer 106 dvd burner an has it in one of those USB2 to IDE Enclosure things which he plugs into his PCMCIA to USB2 adapter card on his laptop.....Works perfectly. allows him to use an internal DVD writer as an external one.

Think belkin do the drive enclosures an the pci to usb2 adapter an then u can go an pick an internal burner thatll be half the price of an external one. I can recommend the pioneer 106 from personal experience....perfect burn every time.

Regards

No....Easy to fit, basically it looks like an external dvd burner without the burner actually in the casei.e an empty box with a usb lead comin out the back, an basically it gives you an IDE port to stick in a hardrive, cdwriter, dvdwriter, wot ever ide device u wanna slap in. Once you got the enclosure just buy the drive an slap it in.

Theres a picture/specs of one Here!!! .

You can also get one that plugs into firewire port.

You can buy one from here!!!!

This way u r not limited to just a dvd burner but can also swap to an extra hardrive or other ide device wen needed.

Regards an hope this helps.

As for software....Alcohol 120% is okay but for ps2 cd backup I always use CloneCD or CDRWin or RecordNow from Sonic.

For ps2 dvd backup always use Sonic RecordNow or Stomp RecordNowMax. ( the same program, just an earlier/later version).

Regards
