what processor do u have, whats it normal speed
basically u going into overclocking clock to fast and yes your pc wiill keep crashing clock even faster yes it wont even boot (if u turn it off quickly then it still wont boot,if u leave it for a while normally the bios will defualt itselt on next boot, sometimes u get stuck as the bios doesnt default, your have to reset cmos then(look in mobo manual) main factors to overclocking failures are heat, are yuor fans in good nick also often the vcore voltage will have to be raised to overclock,ps more chance of damage to cpu u need good cooling if it ran before on a certain speed it should run it now if bios was reset as it must to be the incorrect 1ghz then the vcore voltage would have been defaulted as well ps how are u increaing the clock speed by the fsb or by the multiplier maybe u need to use opposite one to what u been using what cpu have u got athlon1600xp? what fsb does it run if its a 1600xp 266fsb then u want 10(multiplier) x 133(fsb) x2 gives u 266fsb = 1.33ghz or u could try 13 x 100(fsbx2=200) = 1.30ghz what motherboard do u have what fsb is it rated at what memory have u got fsb of the cpu affects the memory(depending on bios setting)if memory is running to fast it will crash same as cpu ie slightly to fast will boot but crash later, even faster pc wont boot without knowing your pc specs its hard to say try 13x100 it cut out most of the possibilities of something in system only beiing 200fsb (as long as your mobo lets u acess the high multipliers13x and above) if not 12.5 x100 will give u 1.25ghz
