Sony I believe. Although, both though drives burn eqaully (speed and +/-). Well, the sony burns cd's and 40x and dvd's at 4x. I don't even see a speed for cd's on the pioneer drive. Anyways, if money is not an issue, I suggest you wait until the dvd-r9 (8.4gb) burners coming out.
