Does DC read 90/99 Min CDRs?
Converted a non boot image of Ecco and Grandia 2 to selfboot using 90min CDRs because the image won't fit onto a 80min CDR (even with overburning) but the dreamcast doesn't seem to boot it up; it goes to the CD player screen showing 81:53 on the counter. I burnt using DJ 3.00.755 using overburn multisession DAO. Anyone managed to successfully burn using 90min CDRs and what games?
Soulcalibur can be overburnt to a 80min CDR using this method but I can't seem to get either Ecco or Grandia to work. BTW my burner is a Plextor 1210AT firmware ver 1.07 so it is capable of writing upto 89:30 and the CDR produced seems to be readable, at least on my PCs CD-Rom |

Ive had no problems burning either (self boot) onto an 80min cdr. Anyway.
Have you tryed burning a non converted self boot game to a 90min cdr? That way you know for sure if the dc can read them. I would think it could.

Tried copying Soulcalibur selfboot on the 90min CDR and it boots fine on the DC. Noticed that DJ 3.00.755 gives an error of illegal command descriptor whenever it starts a new track beyond 80mins or tries to write a leadout beyond 80mins. What gives? I have to do it DAO and in raw mode. Please help me on this as it is beyond my understanding!

Well i have a plextor 12/10/32a and i have exactly
the same problem. I can not burn with success ecco the dolphin 81:45:35 cdi image and grandia2 81:47:36 cdi image. They give me the "illegal field in comand descriptor block" error when it tries to write the second sesion and the second track. I have made a lot of coasters, i have asked plextor sipport team, and they do not know what is the problem. The problem is not the 90 min cdrs, the problem hapens when you try to burn an 80+ min autoselfboot image. The only two games that i could burn with success were soulcalibur and makenx, but they are 80:30:10 min, so they are very close to 80 min. Plextor support team said me that i should return my cd-burner for evaluation and repair. It looks like the new plextor drivers are having these kind of problems. This new cd-drivers can not downgarde the firmware below 1.05. The first ones were dfferent and allow you to downgrade your firmware free and do not have these kind of problems with cdi images. |

People I want to know where do you get this 90 mins. CD I looked in most of the stores like COMPUSA, BEST BUY, CIRCUIT CITY, and sme others there. I also searched the web but I ended up finding MINI-CD-Rs.
So if someone could tell me where I could get them or a site where I could find it I will be very grateful! thanks

I started ripping and burning my own games (with BBA), because I got mad with all these DJ problems...(and the time it took to download the images... and the bad quality)
to overcome the problem with downsampling i used 90min./800MB CDRs (still searching for 99min.) wich worked for most games...(some were bigger so I had to do a lil downsampling... but the most fited on 90min.) I've sucessfully ripped and burned 10 Games like: Bersek,Gauntlet,Record of Lodoss War,NHL2K,RE Code:V, Revolt,Tony Hawk 2... all worked fine with the 90min... (I only use 90min. now because U can put big dummys in front of the data ;o) but still got stuck with MSR, wich seems to be a big prob! havent seen anyone got this to work in the forums..., SegaGT, and Ferrari F355 Challenge... oh...yeah: I used a TEAC-512 EB... but there R only a few Burners wich support 99min CDRs! I only remember HP 8xxx and I think some LG drives...to be able to burn 99min. but maybe there R some firmware upgrades out now for other burners,too...? I had seen a list of working burners somewhere... dont remember the link (but burners R still able to burn on a 99min/900MB CDR but not the full length... my TEAC would do something like 860 MB that I remember...sorry but generally I think the burner must support overburn...(so must the software)... |
