wrong forum, but to answer your question, yes i have tried dvdxcopy xpress and it is very easy to use, but Instantcopy 7/8 and dvdshrink3b5 (this one is free) provide much better video quality when transcoding is necesery.
there are actually a lot of tools that allow you transcode and of course re-encode (like CCE) for much better quality. have a look here a big forum dedicade to all kinds of DVD stuff.
