what chip do you have or how do you play backups on your ps2?
like bighap, if you are talking about the ps2 games that have a blue bottom, then those are not dvds those are cds. there are no patches that do what you described. if you cleaned the laser and still can't play your games or dvds (assuming there is no internal damage to the ps2) then the laser is probably dead.
