You answered your question.... get a messiah...
I have a version 4 with a neo 2.2 and it sucks... it doesnt play anymore appart from some cdr's and i just use it to watch dvds... I know that the neo 2.2 and the dvd rips killed my machine after a while... I use a messiah 2 on a v7 for a long time now... and i am very happy with it... it behaves like a real ps2... and plays everything...
