So, you tried to do a bios upgrade? Try turning the chip off, then see if the xbox boots games (originals). Just stick the game in the dvd rom, power off, then power back on.
If it boots games with the chip off, but not the dashboard, then you either need to reprogram the chip you have or get a new chip. If your xbox does not boot anything at all with or without the chip, then the onboard tsop was flashed badly, or something may have been wrong with the xbox hardware.
Oh yah, if you cannot get it to work, do not throw away your xbox. Go on ebay and sell the power supply starting for about 25 or $30, the dvd-rom could go for more than $60-80 (if it reads burned cd's it will go for more), and the case for $10-20. It is possible to sell your xbox parts and make enouph money to buy a used/refurbished one.
