Another Reset Problem
I also have had the problem as danshaki with the reset button not working. I just finished my mod-chip install last night. I will try to document everything I know.
The difference between me and him is that DVD movies will not boot for me. Nor will PS1 backups (don't have a PS2 backup to try yet). Original games will load fine. The electrons will whirl, browser can be reached, and original games can be seen and booted. DVD movies can be recognized as a DVD video disc, but when tried to play, only black screen results and no reading action even though disc is spinning. Lights on buttons function normally, only eject button powers on console, only rear power switch can turn power off, holding reset button for any length of time has no impact at all. Could the reset wire be the cause of this? I have a Messiah 2 installed in a V5/V6 (V6 I think) PS2. Used liquid flux, 15 watt soldering iron, 30 awg insulated wire. Have checked all connections for continuity and resistors for resitance. All appears normal however I wonder if some of the connections may not be good enough, particularly on the BIOS pins. I had a hard time checking the SCEx wire due to close proximity of other resistors and large test leads on my multimeter. I have assembled after initial install, dissassembled, rechecked everything, beefed up some flimsy connections, retested crosses and reassembled. Same condition with non-booting DVD movies and backup games, along with non-functional reset button. Can anyone help me? Just out of curiosity. Can someone check the continuity of the SCEx resistor connection and the closest adjacent connection? They are connected, I think purposefully on the board but i want to be sure I didn't jump them by accident. If someone has time for that can you give me the readings on the resistance of the SCEx, clk (alt) and A resistors? I would be most appriciative. I should have checked beforehand. Even if no specific help can be given are there any suggestions for ensuring proper connections? I also fear my BIOS wires may be too long, (longer than 25cm) I will have to get back to you on that. Thank you so much. -Mark |
