No solder mod prob?

Hi guys and gals

I have had a no solder mod in my version 4 Ps2 for about a year now. All of a sudden this has started happening - the draw opens normally and after a couple of seconds attempts to shut and won't, (a sound like the draw cogs won't catch (?!!) is heard! (When playing originals the draw works normally)

Has the chip gone bad, as I thought? Has this happened to anyone else? TIA

Yes, it has happened to someone else recently...

I would still think that it's a problem with the chip. You can think of the no-solder as basically an "eject button mod." If the tray works fine under normal circumstances, that tells me that the passthrough function of the chip is working properly and that the cables are secure. Sounds like the logic in the chip is bad. Faulty no-solders seem to be quite common. I've ordered two of them before, one had to be replaced due to being faulty.
