Copying vs. Sound Quality

I've been told that if I copy my mp3 files over and over again, the sound quality will begin to deteriorate. Although I'm not an expert, I find this hard to believe. I certainly can't tell by listening to my copied files. If the number of ones and zeros are the same on copy 1 as copy 20, how can it sound different? If making copies caused deterioration, it seems like the programs I copied over and over would stop working properly as well. Any audiophiles out there have an opinion?
Thanks

That is a load of crap. It is not like your mp3s are on a vhs tape, they are on a hard drive.
