GTA Vice City

When im installing the game, the cdrom gets stuck when installing direct x. Ive had the same problem with C&C Generals, but it gets stuck on some texture file.

Can anyone help me solve this?

So, does this happen when installing from the original cds ? What is your current directx version ?

Yes, it does sound like a corrupt copy, and like gh0sth@cker suggested, lowering the read speed is the best way to counter that. I've rescued at least five of my originals when they were failing, just by switching from 40x read speed to 4x.

chances are it was the read speed, generally for safedisc 2x/4x read (or the lowest setting on ur burner apart from 1x of course), and 2x burn usually has a higher chance of succeeding than a burn at higher speeds, securom itself is a little more tempermental, but in most cases, low speed read/image seems to do the job, it can also depend on the media that you are burning onto as well, but well at a 2x/4x burn it should burn fine

GTA Vice city is protected by the latest securom 4
best way to copy it is to use Blindwrite suite with a good BWA file.
if you don't know what a bwa file is or your burner\cd rom can't make a good one , go to cd freaks .com

If you have a problem installing an image file, just extract the contents of it, then burn it. Works alot better. A prog to do this is called ultraIso.
