reset button trouble?? or messiah 2??

Ok.. perhaps too technical.

Can someone jus tell me when you turn on the ps2 what color should the LED's be on the reset and eject buttons? after i turn on power my reset button is red and the eject button is off. The only way to play anything is to push the eject button which then turns blue, the fan comes on tray ejects and reset light now turns green (reset still does nothing though). Is this how the ps2 is supposed to work? If not how?
