Vice City problems
I have performance issues with GTA 3 Vice City under Windows 98 SE with NOCD crack. The problem is that the game becomes very choppy and keeps stuttering/freezing whenever you collide with cars and objects. It actually becomes unplayable. This is strange, as I also have GTA 3 installed and it runs perfect. I have a dual boot setup with Windows XP pro installed on another partition. I also have both games installed on my Windows XP partition and they both run very smoothly. I can play the game in windows XP, but I want to know why it wont run properly under windows 98. I have all the latest drivers and I have also tried using older ones for video. My Windows 98 install is very clean and has no background programs running. I have tried re-installing the game too. Anyone else had similar probs?
My system spec is: Mobo: Asus P4PE CPU: P4 2.8 Mem: 512mb PC2700 Video: GF4 Ti4600 Audio: SB Audigy 2 H/D: 120gb IBM OS's: Win 98 SE, Win XP Pro SP1 |

I had the same problem and that patch won't fix it. What you have to do is open up control panel, click on multimedia, audio, advanced properties for playback, and performance. Now change the hardware acceleration to Basic. It fixed me right up, which is weird since I blanked out all my audio and it still gave me this problem. Damned win98. Oh well. This also works for a few other games as well such as Mafia, X2: Wolvies Revenge, and Enter the Matrix. Enjoy.
