New HDD, now on/off Switch doesn't work

I have new HDD's in both my xbox's and it worls fine but now that i've installed them my on/off switch doesn't work.
I'm 100% positive it worked before the new HDD.

Any one else experience this prob and was able to fix it?

just popped my original xbox HDD back in and the on/off switch works fine. that's messed up cuz all my dashboards are in place on both HDD's

Try making sure...

That the cable is plugged in tight and is not upside down, I had the same problem and thats what the cause was that the cable wasn't plugged in tight. I am sure that's the only problem and you did format the new drive right?? Make sure you have f enabled

- both cables plugged in tight
- i formated the HDD with a DVD-R from the tutorial on XBox-Scene
- F: is enabled and there are several games on there.
- when i put the original HDD in the switch works fine and from what i can tell the 3 dashboards are working properly.

i get that big green error screen with a 05 in the top left.

When you say on / off switch, i assume you mean the mod switch, I`m also going to assume that you can boot in evox, and not in normal mode....

Try locking the hard drive ....

yes i do mean the on/off switch on the mod. and when it's on it works fine. meaning it boots to evox & the msdash(via evox) as planned, but when it's off i get an error screen like the xbox can't find the correct dash to use.

now since i'm going to ask you how to lock the HDD you can assume taht i don't have it done.

So how do you lock the HDD?

Whats the evoX dashboards name? Evoxdash.xbe or xboxdash.xbe. If it is xboxdash.xbe, then there's your problem.

no my evox dash is evoxdash.xbe
i have 3 dashs on my xbox right now
- evoxdash.xbe (the latest evox)
- xboxdash.xbe (the original dash)
- msxboxdash.xbe (copy of xboxdash.xbe renamed)

now msxboxdash.xbe is a copy of xboxdash.xbe and it work therefore the original should work. but it doesn't, so i don't know.

others mentioned "locking the hard drive" and i'm wondering how to do that. also if you would use ConfigMagic to do it with.

hmm, the only thing that I can think of is maybe the dash that works has XBL and the one that doesn't work, doesn't have XBL (assuming you have xbl installed). Other than that, I really dunno why it's like that.
