It saves ALOT of wear and tear on a expensive DVD Writer.... That is the ONLY thing my dvd writer gets used for. To BURN dvds... I use the other 2 drives for reading discs and burning cd-r's.... If I wear out my cd-r & dvd-rom drive, I can purchase BOTH for ALOT less money than a dvd writer.....
