I use Alcohol 120% for CDs (TDK brand)

and RecordNow Max for DVDs (Ritek brand)

Oddly enough, with that burner, if I burn the Ritek's at 1x speed the games and video comes out choppy.... I have to burn them at 2x. Just something to look at if you are getting choppy video and such in games.

Also, to play DVDs you will need to hold down the power button until you see the blue light, just like for PS1 games. Otherwise the machine will try to boot the DVD as a PS2 game.

I would replace that old media, and get yourself a DVD lens cleaner for your PS2 and use it often.
