Check whether the DC bootdisk is recognised as audio disk in your computer. If it is then you probably have a bad burn, if it is not I`d say your DC cannot play Cdr but then again, if you say it used to work it is just probably a bad burn.
Try burn it again with files from different sources and change as mentioned above the burner software settings. Also, take branded blank CDs.
