IGI2 - FADE Protection...

Hi there!

Did anybody encounter problems with Codemasters FADE-Protection in Project IGI2?

FADE Protection has no 'errors messages'. It just happens.
I did not know that IGI2 came with FADE. Personally I have yet to encounter it, IF it has it.

Well, it IS Codemasters. And apparently one sighting already. I think we can conclude that IGI2 contains FADE.

im not so sure about that.. flashpoints fade was directly related to the serial number, perhaps igi2 has no fade, perhaps its just very buggy and RincewindTheWiz how you can deduce that from one game in existance (flashpoint) having fade, that all codemasters games will be fade protected is beyond me..

I always personally believed that the FADE protection was in line with a cracked exe.....Backed up Flashpoint on my old HP original disk ran fine, but when i inserted the NO CD crack, the message about FADE started to appear when i ran the program......Now using a lite on and doing 1:1 copies with Alcohol120 and only get that message if i insert a no cd crack.....if that makes sense to you guys

Bad crack perhaps? Dunno but probably the game has some internal checks to see if someone has been messing with the code

just a thought....

I did not say that. The question was whether IGI2 had fade. Since it's a game published by Codemasters (who made FADE), and the first post asked about it, the conclusion is that it is in fact FADE protected. This because when FADE kicks in you get a giant message, something like "Real games don't FADE' or something. The fact that the thread starter came asking about it makes it almost 100% certain that he encountered it. Maybe just as a mention in the manual like KiwiCom says. It was just an educated guess, and it seems like I'm right.

Well, I asked this question because I was not able to save the game. So I thought it could have something to do with FADE. I know that IGI1 had no save-option, but I read that IGI2 has one. The manual (german) says nothing about that!

(Sorry for my terrible english, but I gave my very best...)

I think I read that there's a limited number of saves in each mission. The number depends on the difficulty you're playing. FADE is probably present, but even if it is it probably won't kick in unless you're playing multiplayer with a bad serial or something. There are definitely saves in IGI2, but maybe you have to do something special for them.

To save the game in IGI2, you have to go to the map computer display and select the option there. When you do that you'll see the 'battery' indicator drop. When it reduces to nothing you can't save any more.

The Hotkey for save is 'I', I think but it should be configurable from the key options screen.

I'd expect that the limited amount of saves is per level, not per game, (hopefully)!

Vic

You're allowed to save three times per mission.....bar one....One of the missions involving a helicopter ride supposedly doesn;t allow you the ability to save....

I can confirm that the first page of the manual read's: -

"This Codemasters game is protected by the FADE (TM) protection system. If you purchase an illegal copy of the game, you will be able to play it - but not for to long. As you play, the gameplay of a pirated copy will degrade"

I have just started playing it so I cannot say whether or not I am getting the FADE problem/protection however you wanna classify it.

Keep you all posted....
