Strictly speaking u really need an oscilloscope to do a really good laser recalibration.
U can get some limited results by doing continuity tester method but even with the version 4 laser tuned up to the max u will still get the odd problem ( especially with magic fitted, for some reason laser seems to run slightly weaker when magic installed.) Turning up the laser intensity pot will also reduce the life of your laser. A less troublesome solution might be to get yr m8 to remove the chip and sell his unmodded PS2 version 4 and try and get hold of a second hand version 5 - 8 and fit mod chip in there. Will save a lot of messing around and dissapointment. Regards
