One thing i forgot to add, i have the clip on mine too (but still a 3.1) but it is some L shaped board that was the worst. Even taking the V7 apart is a pain in the ass. To install the chip they send you, you must totally disassemble your PS2. And i don't just mean the cover, i mean the removal of the mother board in the ps2. I had to solder some the L shaped bracket on one side and the chip on the other, also the disassemble directions modchip sends suck. This L shaped bracket i've mentioned is not shown in the initial pics but if you go to:

you'll see it in the bottom left hand pic, it's a pain to oh my god porportions and the reason you must totally remove the mother board from the ps2.
