how to burn the .bin and .cue files

Ok i'm just about getting it now. Well the last concern I have now is that when I look through tutuorials on how to play svcd's on your cd-rom, they say to use the dvd player such as windvd, and open the *.mpg file. After I burned my .cue file using nero. All i have on the cd is a *.dat file in the MPEGAV folder and a few more files, but no *.mpg file. Does that look like a SVCD to you. I got no errors in the creation process when making it with dvd2svcd.
