Question: Pioneer A05 / Software / Backup Medias

Question:

Is the Pioneer A05 the best selection for DVD Writers to do back-up of everything (protected stuff)?

Does the Pioneer A05 work with CloneCD? If not, what software is recommended for backing up protected PC Games, DVDmovies, etc...

I have the Toshiba M105 DVD-ROM. Does this work well with the pioneer and backing up DVD movies, PC Games, etc (copy protection and all)?

Anyone recommend a good and stable $300-400 video card for playing back DVD movies and especially games n the WinXP environment?

Thanks for any and all help...

The A05 is an excelent choice for a dvd burner. CloneCd works fine with the A05, but I think Alcohol 120 is the prefered choice of software for pc games. dvdxcopy is an excellent dvd burning program, as well as dvd2one. Your Toshiba dvd rom is fine. I am not sure how good a job the A05 will be at burning pc games. The prefered cd burner for this is a Lite-On. A $300-$400 video card? You can get good 64 mb video card for $100 or less.

Thanks for the reply...

Does anyone know how the Pioneer A05 is with copying protected PC Game? I would love an all-in-one solution... Having 3 CD/DVD drives on my machine would not be as desirable as two...

As far as the video card, I have a Leadtek A170TH 64MB Nvidia card. WinXP reports crashes as being driver problem related when games crash ... I know this is probably a BS statement from MS to cover their ass but I have updated the drivers from NVIDIA and LEADTEK (not to mention the MB chipset) and still crashes with games.

I would pay $100-400 to have a strong card that works within WinXP (example games I play: WC2, Diablo2, Age of Mythology - they all crash eventually). I get so little time to play games nowadays and would love uninterupted play once in a while. I hate going on battlenet because of the crashes I eventually get..

I am going to be dumping my AMD MB and processor for a P4 to eliminate this as being the problem. Note: I have P3 machines which run these games in WinXP that never crash. The only differences would be the MB,Processor, Video cards. I have tried 2 different video cards in my machine and both crash but I can not elimate them as the problem.

Note: I have reinstalled my machine from soup to nuts quite a few times trying to eliminate/isolate the problem and I have it down to MB, Processor or Video.

Thanks for listening and any help...

Jim
