Hi, is clone cd all that is needed to backup a dvd? I have a verbatim dvd burner. With clone cd will I still need a decrypter? Also how do you fit a movie that is over 4.7 g in size on a dvd disc made for 4.7? thanks all for the help.

Clone CD will not back-up a DVD. Clone DVD has still not been released as of yet.

The easiest way to get a dvd to fit onto one disc is with dvd2one.

Which of these two applications will create a higher quality dvd disc, dvd2clone or Dvdxcopy?

I think you meant dvd2one, not dvd2clone. Anyways, dvdxcopy is best becasue it does no compressing what so ever. Dvd2one compresses the video, but the quality loss is supposed to be minimal, that's if you can notice it, which many can't.

Im using dvd2one now. Reason being most DVDs are over 4.7gigs. And its not worth 2 DVD-R to back-up a movie.
I believe(not shure, im still new to this) that a DVD 4.7gig holds 120 min(2 hours) of video. So if the movie is not over 2 hours, you should not even lose any quality.
And the main reason...it just copies the movie. Nothing else. So the DVD plays after its put into the DVD player. No need to find the controller. A must for parents backing up kids movies.
I love my "Data Doctor", but i'm sick of buffing DVDs and games.

Time is not the only factor to consider. The movie's size also matters. All movies are encoded differently, with different quality. Also from what I have heard, movies done with dvd2one thst are over 2 hours get all screwy.

I've done some movies over 2 hours without any problems. I can't think of the title right now, but I remember the movie was about 2 1/2 hours long and deliberately watched for problems because I had heard about the 2 hour barrier.

Probably something else going on which I'm sure we'll find out about one day.

This problem could have been resolved in a newer release....
