This is nothing new. Physically it is one disc but technically it is the same as 2 discs. It is just double sided, one 4.7 gb dvd on each side.

with these would we be able to copy a dvd greater than 4.7 gigs ...lets say 7.8 gigs on one disk with menus and other extras by using lets say dvd decrypter and dvd2one then burn?

Think of these types of media as nothing more than two 4.7gb discs, one on each side. They are nothing special at all. They are just like having 2 dvd-r discs. To answer your question, no.
