Change from a Magic 3.0 to 3.1 ?

But what about the DVD9-support that is supposed to be at the Magic 3.1 chip? How important is this? I only play backups... just have the original as a "backup" Dont want to scratch my $50 games...

Also i heard that a few games are freezing on 3.0 ? I don't have any problem with GTA3 thu...

Game freezes..? Is this only the backup of the game, or is it the original to? (if the chip is turned on)
