Unhappy PS2 Boot Up Problems

I backed Vice city using recordnow max and it wouldn't boot. I used 1x read and 1x burn. I am using samsung be all media. I followed the directions how to backup using recordnow max (on this forum) exactly. I followed the boot procedure at this link ( http://www.modchipinc.com/pages/nosoderusage.htm) exactly, and used Devil May Cry for the TOC. I am using Game Shark version 2 something. My modchip is the No-solder R-mod.

Then i tried backing up metal gear solid 2 using primo and it won't boot. Again, 1x read and 1x write. I followed directions for burning on this site exactly. I followed the boot procedure at the above link. Still nothing....please help....

Addition info: My burner is pioneer A105, and i can boot CD based games no problem!!!

Any one that can suggest any thing, no matter how minor to try would be doing me a huge favor.....cheers!

Try this... When you do the swap by holding in the eject button, hit X as soon as you hold in the button. Also what boot procedure are you using? I swap the gameshark with a high toc game (Devil may cry should be fine), wait 20 sec or so, choose a "dummy code" and select it on then off again, start game with codes, hit X at the same time as doing the r-mod swap and then swap the High toc game with the back up. Hope this helps. Disregard if it doesn't.

Not sure if this is the case but If you have a version 7 ps2 you cannot use gameshark/action replay (ANY VERSION) to do the boot swap. The version 7 somehow knows you have done the swap so if you're model is 3900* then soz but swap magic 2 boot disks are the only way.

And even these arn't without faults. If it is a version 7 i'd recommend you get a no swap mod (messiah 2 ) installed. It'l save you time and a lot of effort.

if you have a ver 5 or 6 then check the version number of the gameshark *the exact number is on the underside(blue) of the disk in the rim* and report back. Some of the newer version don't work for the swap.
