This might sound a bit obvious but if u use a continuity tester u can check that these connections are correct for sure.
Also the BIOS legs are ok to solder to. The only chip where it gets too small is the CD/DVD controller chip. Easiest answer, persevere with Bios legs as the wires will almost certainly be shorter and hence more effective. Good luck!!!!!
