The CD64 is a similar device to the Doctor 64 and creates files of the same format, with it you can
2. Backup & Developing Feature :- By linking to PC, ( you need to buy the Parallel Port Adaptor from us, it is optional ) you can back up your own game to your computer hard disk or store on CDR by using the cd-writer. Once you need to play the game. You can upload the games data from your PC through Parallel Port Adaptor to CD64 and run on N64. or boot from the CD-Drive of CD64 ( while your files data is store in CD ). The software developer also can write or modify their own games on PC and upload to CD64 to test it. . Have a look at http://www.gameenhancer.net/CD64info.html for full info. The 64DD was made by nintendo and just allows 64dd games to be played, these were released on special discs and are larger than an N64 cartridge. I believe this was only released in Japan. You also have the Z64 which uses zip discs to store the games on. If you backup a game with the doctor64 or CD64 you have to run a little program to byte swap it to be able to play it on a Z64, whichever device you backup the game with you can play it on one of the others, it just need to be byte swapped to the correct format.
