CPU Speed for DVD-R

The way its been working is that I can only burn smaller games about 2.5 gig or less before the whole system freezes. Any idea what minimum speed I should really use? After a year of burning DVD-Rs with PrimoDVD and a Pioneer A03, I shuffled my trusty 128MB 450MHz Fujitsu along the desk.

No problems whatsoever with DVD-R.
