No mate it doesn't.
So yes dvd region x will be needed. However, be careful and try to get the most recent version. If you have a new machine such as a version 7 and use a old version of dvdregion x it isn't compatible with the dvd drivers. (2 incidents i know where it completly renders the ps2 useless) Be warned!
