Betafield 1942 checks for CDR media and about 4 other things. A 1:1 backup will only work if you hide CDR media with CloneCD or something along those lines.

Before patch 1.2 I could run it from DVD drive, but not my CDRW drive, but not anymore. I could run it from a Fantom CD virtual drive, not any more. Daemon Tools still works though. They really went nuts on the "protection" garbage with this one.

sorry but you're wrong as iv'e said before i have made a full working backup of bf1942 using nero. no special settings were used just did a straite forward copy and it worked. and no i don't need cracks or fixes works perfrectly. may be a fluke or maybe i'm just lucky but it works for me. this also worked for ut2003 / medal of honour allied assault and spearhead also soldier of fortune 2.
this method always works for me.

dude and I made one using my wife's toaster... Stuck the original cd in one side and turned it up to high and used the other side for the copy cd set on low.

I don't see how this could have happened - especially with UT2003 which has Securom 4.8 which cannot be copied 1:1 perfectly, nevermind with Nero.

i am telling the truth and i have the backup discs to prove it.
these discs may not be perfect 1:1 copys but they are working and install no problem. even the play disc. I am not the only person i know who has copied ut2003 this way and got it to work.
i am not trying to be clever or take the piss. i am just sick of people saying that you can not copy this game because i have and i have the discs in my hand they do work.
it's just that simple

Dude.

I NEVER said you can't copy it, I made a 1:1 copy myself. I said it does check for CDR Media, and it does.

No way you made a working copy with Nero alone. Not online especially. But you can make one easily with CloneCD, but then you have to find a way around the physical CDR Media check either with a drive or virtual drive that spoofs it into thinking it's a factory disk.

nope
i already told you i used nero.
it took approx 2 houres to read as it threw up several dozen read errors. once it finally read all the way through i burnt it. its that simple and i have the discs in my hand to prove it

For sure you did, because a simple RAW copy of BF1942 will do the job with a good writer - but you will NOT be able to copy UT2003 this way. SecuROM is not copyable with any program in a simple 1:1 way anymore - that is fact. You can copy it without any problems, but the game will NOT start with the original exe, if you use a nocd/fixed exe it will work always!

what the hell is so bloody difficult for you to understand.
i have the discs here with me.
THEY INSTALL AND RUN NO PROBLEM WITH NO NEED FOR FIXED EXE OR NO CD CRACK.
this forum is supposed to be here for fellow gamers etc to share their experience and knowledge. this method has worked for me and the games load from the cd with no exterior help of any kind

It can not work the way you claim - so your info is useless.

Of course it wil work with SD2 protected games as I said - but it can NOT work with e.g. UT2003 (SecuROM) - and btw SoF2 is NOT protected at all, so what!?

Check your UT2003.exe for SecuROM, post the version here, then we will see ...
as I already said: all other games you mentioned are no problem with good hardware.
Btw post the hardware you used.
