your problem, checkout BG's stick post on boot procedures, follow procedures for Neo 2.2 and other swap chips. You might get lucky. You could also open up your PS2 if you feel brave and identify the chip using BG's page.
your mates problem, what exactly has he a problem with? If he can get primo installed but not recognise his A04 then upgrade PX Engine (search veritas on this forum for link). If he cant get primo to install then find out what it conflicting with and un-install it. has he got easy cd-cremator installed? hope this helps, post back on this board if it doesn't
