It cannot be copied. Try a search on this board, I think ghosthacker posted a link to cdfreaks, where a backup solution was discussed, but only the hard way.

So far you are not able to copy securom VERY new in any way (ut uses that).

Your only chance is a fixed exe / no-cd.

The recent BIG releases have all shipped with this copy protection.

i am not yanking your chains but i made a backup of ut2003
using nero. don't ask me for settings as i just did a copy using the wizzard. it took approx two and a half houres to read the disc
and then burn i installed the game using the backed up discs and every thing appears ok including the play disc.
i used a hp dvd100i which also burns cd-r's and nero 5.5.9.14

Were the original cd's you used as your source real original games or just copies you got off your mate?

It probably works because of a bug in SecuROM.

J-Ray
I copied my UT2k3

Well i always make backup copies of my games and UT2k3 was done the day i got it.
I used nero on normal settings just made a `data` cd changed the name from `new` to the same as my UT disk and dragged all files over to it

This worked fine for all 3 disks !!!!

Simple.........

Johnny....

If you did this the way you say, J-Ray, then there was NO copy protection present on your UT discs. Where did you buy them ? Has anyone else encountered unprotected originals or is there something fishy here ?

Don't take this the wrong way, J-Ray, but the current protection on UT2003 is very, very difficult to copy exactly and when someone waltzes in and claims to have done it with a slapped together nero job, we're getting mighty suspicious. Although I HAVE to admit that together with 'dude' there are now two of you who claim this, so who knows ?

gh0sth@cker.
the discs i made my backup from were the original ones. as i said it took nero over 2 houres to read and burn with numberous read error warnings. i just perseveared and let it do it's job. all the backups appear ok and work. i did the same for bf1942 / operation desert storm / gta 3 and soldier of fortune 2 all took houres to read and burn and to be honest i havent a clue about the copyrite protection i just gave it a try and it worked. i can't say any thing more it may have just been a fluke who knowes ?

What can i say

Yes my disks are all originals !!!

I did try to copy the disks in the usual way doing a straight disk to disk copy `on the fly` and `to hard drive` both of these ways failed to work so i presume i have copy protection on my disks. It was then i tried the `data disk` option which worked fine read the disks ok and copied each in around 5 mins at x16 speed

This is a method i have used before as to backup my Medal of Honour AA, i made a data disk also

The disks still auto boot as originals and work fine...
