Minor Update
The suggestion to try a DVD Movie using the same DVD-R Media was a good one. I have done so and the DVD(-R) Movie works fine in the modded PS2. I will next try Primo DVD to see if it can make a better Backup, though I have a strong suspicion that this is also not the case (of a bad backup that is). I have a strange feeling that I may need GS2 V2 or above, while I have GS2 V1.99D.
