No swap means exactly what it says......You just put the copy in your PS2 and play......
If you have a "Swap chip" you have to go through a PAIN IN THE A$$ boot procedure......Insert gameshark, insert original, put in backup.....THEN MAYBE you can play.....Get the idea..... As far as putting in a No Swap chip.......YOU DON'T PUT IT IN (Unless you are highly skilled at soldering in VERY SMALL places) They have 23 wires to be soldered, and take a VERY EXPERIENCED SOLDERER with the right equipment to install.... You can get a no swap chip installed for around 60-70 dollars (US). Of course that is with you supplying the chip.... With a no swap chip you dont have to patch games....
