Cd-writers are generally better at reading the "protection" on the disk. From the occurance of these bad sectors it is Safedisk. And as Scout detected it as Safedisk 1 that's pretty much confirmed it.

With regards to the iso size again. The new filesize you quoted is still unusual as 1,638,400 bytes is still just over a floppy disk (it's around 1.6 Mb)

I suggest making the iso images again using the same reader - preferably the cd-writer, and then see if the images from either disk are the same.
But saying you seem to have made a 1:1 copy with Clone CD - be happy
