Try using Primo DVD to backup your DVD based game....
You can get Primo DVD from this website....Primo Download!
Also.... Follow the tutorial written by Charlie_PS2.... You can get the tutorial from here: Primo Tutorial!
Traxdata DVD-R's are supposedly awesome for the PS2.... Try the burning method mentioned above and see if that sorts out your problem.

Also....What type of boot method are you using?

It sounds to me like Prassi PrimoDVD is not recognising your drive. This will be because it is Brand New. When I did this, I had the same problem - I also have a 104 . Go to www.prassieurope.com and download the PX Engine Update. Move the .exe file into the main Prassi PrimoDVD directory and run it. The next time you open Prassi, you're drive will be recognised and you will be able to use it to copy you're PS2 DVD's. Use the Tutorial on www.psxcopyworld.co.uk and you can't go wrong. I read it over and find it fool proof. It is a great site. Just read the Prassi tutorial and you will be fine.

P.S.: Ditch Nero for burning PS2 DVD's. Prassi is far easier and gives much better results (Or so I find)...

Nero is not all that bad for burning PS2 DVD-Rs, does the trick for me, although I do agree that Prassi is better.

I have had major problems with Nero myself when it comes to burning PS2 DVD-R's. However, i stick with Primo now and occasionally use Diskjuggler V.4 as well. Have you tried DJ 'Paul'?

What version Nero have you got? I'm using 5.5.9.0 with no probs.

I haven't tried Diskjuggler yet. Is it in the same league as primo/recordnow/nero/cdrwin/clonecd?

According to Tyler, Disc Juggler is very much like PrimoDVD and works just as well.
