As a collector of software, I can tell you this, CloneCD is the best Backup Software for most any CD that will come across in the market today. As with anything else you must select the right tool for the job. I've literally burned thousands of CD's and this is what I use the most and what I use it for:

ClondCD ---- To Backup Orginal Copies
FireBurner ---- To Burn Bin Files
Adaptec EZCD ---- Data CD and ISO's
MusicMatch Jukebox ---- For Audio (Which I beleave uses the adaptec engine for recording)
CDRwin ---- To Make Bin Files
