What about damages?
Might be a bit risky? The lid closes for a reason--to keep the disc stable while spinning at several thousand RPM's. You might be risking damage at least to the media, if not the drive spindle if you let a CD spin freely at any time?
Kinda pointless when you consider how cheap some of the mod solutions are out there.....not too mention how cheap the PSX is now anyway. It only cost me $15 and 15 minutes to mod my PS2, shouldn't be THAT bad to mod a PSX! Didn't they have some solutions for the PSX that didn't involve opening the case to mod it? Anyway, Good Luck!
