If you have 4 bays in your case I suggest that you use all four for a cd-rom, dvd-rom, cd-r/w, and dvd-r/rw. CD-ROM drives and DVD-ROMs are cheap enough and going on what the rest of your system is you probably won't have a problem paying for those extras.

The reason I suggest this is because usually CD-R/RW burners only have on average a two year lifetime before they die or the laser gets testy on you. If you can use the CD-R/RW for burning purposes only and have a seperate CD-ROM for reading in only, you may prevent some wear and tear on the burner. The same principle applies with the DVD-R/RW.

So I would definately go with an extra DVD-ROM because the extra $50 you spend on a DVD-ROM might save you an extra year of use for the DVD-R/RW.
