WarCraft 3 1:1 Backup
Hi all, I posted a message in a previous thread but I don't think anyone will look at it since it's a little older. Anyways, I have been reading ALL the posts on making a 1:1 backup copy of WarCraft 3 and noticed that everyone with a LiteOn LTR-24102B (like me) who was following the supposedly working methods (either CloneCD with ClonyXXL or Blindwrite) was having troubles making a working backup. I am having the same problems. I updated my firmware to the latest (S5A) of off LiteOn's website, then tried everything again and still no luck. I have wasted about 6 CD's now and while CD's are cheap, I don't want to spend hours and hours trying if it is just not possible, or if I am doing something wrong all the time. I have tried BlindWrite with default settings, CloneCD with default Game settings, CloneCD with ClonyXXL's Securom *new* settings, and ClonyXXL with "don't repair subchannel data" checked on as well, all to no avail. Every time I get the same problem: when I try to run any exe file on the backup CD, Windows (XP Pro) gives me an error message "this file is incomplete or corrupt". If anyone has any tested solutions or any ideas for us legacy LiteOn users I would really appreciate it. What bugs me is that as far as I know the 32x and 40x LiteOn drives are no different except for maybe firmware, and I have heard success stories with those drives. =)
