patching question?

I've not had a lot of experience in patching, I'm following a detailed tutorial with pics using cdrwin, ppf omatic, and an ea pal patch.

Trying to patch fifa 2001, but keep making coasters however get message that bin file size is incorrect.

I've tried two different methods but discs still wont boot.

(V5 with messiah)

I am trying to make the patch from a backup, is this where I'm going wrong? does the bin file to patch have to be from an original?

Any advice appreciated
