psx copy speed

If its best to copy psx at 1x or 4x see other posts on this page then why do liteon,sony etc etc make writers at speeds up to 40x.it would not matter what speed your writer does as people keep saying not to go over 4x with anything.(liteon has three different speed writers 24x, 32x and 40x but if you dont go say over 4x why not stick with the 24x.......) surly if you buy a 40x writer it should do as it says and record at 40x other than that then its a lie................
