Mitsumi 4804te "Aging problems"

I have a mitsumi 4804te burner and I have encounered a following problem with it: Im not able to burn 4x speed anymore. If I try burning wery often stops in the beginning and a error msg appears. 2x burning will work fine and also 4x burning to cd-rw disks! I have burned relatively low amount of cd-r's >150. Is this a problem that can be solved buy somehow cleaning the drive or have u encountered similar problems with mitsumi 4804 drives?
