Problems with Boot CD. Need Help

I play my games on a VGA monitor, but many of my backups require a boot disk. I've tried downloading the 1.2 version of the Boot disk from many different locations, but it's always exactly the same as the 1.1 version and does not work with VGA. I've also downloaded the patch for 1.1, but it say's it can't open the file, and I've even downloaded some that say they are a nero or DJ image that's already patched and ready to burn... but still nothing. I can't get my non-boot games to work on a VGA monitor.
Yes, I've tried leaving the VGA cable unplugged until the game is already loaded, but that doesn't work either.
Any help anyone can give would be greatly appreciated. I'm tired of wasting disks on Boot images that don't work right.
